On Sunday, June 6th, Immanuel helped celebrate Rev. Arthur Habermehl’s 50th anniversary of his Ordination. Rev. Habermehl is the Pastor Emeritus of our church and served here for 33 years from 1966 to 1999.

Youth Group Fundraiser

Pancakes are indeed the Supper of Champions!

Hats Off to the Immanuel Congregational Church Youth Group for exceeding their goal of $600 and raising a total of $748 and 75 pounds of canned goods to donate to Oxford/Orion FISH. The Immanuel Youth Group thanks the community for their generous support during the four pancake suppers.

Habitat for Humanity Spring Volunteer Fair is for anyone with an open heart and mind who wants to learn more about new Volunteer Opportunities and more about what it takes to build a house and become a homeowner. The Fair will feature information, games, prizes, one-to-one conversations with each specific Habitat department, a backstage tour of Habitat’s facilities and a chance to pursue a way to make a difference in Oakland County in 2010 and beyond.

Souper Bowl – Feb 7th

Nope, that’s not a typo… Since 1999, the Souper Bowl of Caring has utilized Super Bowl Weekend to mobilize youth to fight hunger and poverty in their local communities. This year, Immanuel youth are hosting a Souper Bowl event on Sunday February 7th – you can purchase a bread bowl filled with your choice of delicious soups or chilis for only $6.

100% of the proceeds from this event will be sent directly to the United Church of Christ Haiti Relief Fund

Employment Networking Opportunity

LOCAL CHURCHES TO OFFER
EMPLOYMENT NETWORKING
AND CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM

Love In the Name of Christ, (Love INC), a nation-wide, non-denominational, faith-based organization in collaboration with Orion-Oxford area churches, will support an employment networking and career guidance program.

The assistance program, called “Transitions,” is a faith-based employment networking group being offered to all Oxford-area individuals who have found themselves without work during these difficult times.  Area pastors have offered to be a part of the group on a rotating basis.  They will offer spiritual guidance and support to all who participate in the group.

“Transitions” will meet each Friday morning, beginning on February 5, 2010, at the Oxford United Methodist Church, located at 21 E. Burdick Street.  Meetings will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and conclude no later than 10:30 a.m.
